There were around 100 participants in this meeting. During this meeting the group reviewed status of various Hoshins taken in the last Ice Cream Hoshin meeting and discussed various plans for the year 2012. |

Kurien, Father of the White Revolution, The Milkman of India & Architect of Operation Flood, founder Chairman of NDDB, GCMMF, NCDFI, IRMA among others, was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award by CNN-IBN. While receiving the award, he said that integrity is crucial for success. CNN-IBN on Friday (16-12-2011) presented ‘Indian of the Year” awards in different categories to the people whose contribution have strengthened the foundation of our society and have helped build Brand India in the process.

Today the unique puja ceremony was done to bless the Amul branded Sauber F1 team. India’s largest food brand Amul is the official partner of Sauber F1 team. This ceremony was attended by the national and international media. The Managing Director of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (Amul) Shri R S Sodhi, the Sauber Managing Director Ms Monisha Kaltenborn, the drivers Kobayashi and Perez were also remained present on the auspicious occasion. The team loved the auspicious Indian start to the races with pundit performing the puja with chanting pious slokas from Veda and also seeking blessings of Lord Ganesha for a great race filled with success and safety for all. This was totally unique type of Indian traditional ceremony which no other team has performed. |

Tasting success with the two Amul Cafes at Ahmedabad, GCMMF has opened two more Cafés in Ahmedabad & Bangalore on October 6th, 2011. "Venturing into value-added Retailing was a natural extension to us. We started with our Retailing Franchisee concept "Amul preferred Outlets" for selling our entire range of packed products. We next went for "Scooping Parlours" to sell value added Ice-creams. Our entry into Quick Service Restaurant is a natural fit with our business as Amul products go with all dishes one can think of. Our leadership in food business would get reinforced further with our Cafes." said R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF, during the inaugural function. He claimed that Café Amul stands to be the most franchise friendly Quick Service Restaurant Chain with nominal franchisee fees and no revenue sharing with the principal. He added that the investment per outlet is in the range of Rs 20-25 lakh. He further explained that Amul Cafe is a quick service restaurant concept spread over an area of 1,000 square feet and serves recipes like Amul Butter Pavbhaji, Amul pizzas, Amul cheese burgers, Dosas, sandwiches, ice cream, sundaes and milk shakes. |

He added that Amul's vision for success through teamwork, technology, speed and innovation matches the core values of Formula 1. For instance, technology has been the driving force for over 6 decades at Amul, be it for breed improvement, IT integration at village level for procurement, processing of milk and for development of several products for the first time in the world like milk powder from buffalo milk in 1960's to pro-biotic and sugar free ice creams in recent times. Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation is India's largest food products marketing organization. It procures 4 billion litres of milk annually from 3 million milk producers in more than 15000 villages, twice a day, and processes and markets its product range comprising Amul butter, cheese, ice cream, fresh milk, yoghurt, milk powders, UHT milk, flavoured milk, ghee, paneer etc in 3000 cities and towns of India and 40 countries around the world. Its annual sales turnover in 2010-11 was US$ 2.2 billion. Peter Sauber founded his company, PP Sauber AG, in 1970 for the design and construction of racing sportscars. In 1988, Sauber became the Mercedes works team in the sportscar world championship. One year later, Sauber-Mercedes celebrated a one-two victory in the famous 24-hours race at Le Mans and won the world championship title for drivers and teams only one year later. (Mr.) Harris Sithembile Majeke, High Commissioner of South Africa to India and Mr. Mvuyo Mhangwane, Counselor – Political visited Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF), Anand and Amul Dairy, Anand on 27th September 2011 to understand the "Amul" model of dairy Co-operatives. The dignitaries met Shri R S Sodhi, Managing Director and other Senior Officials of GCMMF. The delegation also noted the impressive growth achieved by GCMMF which is now 10,000 crores (2 billion USD) entity. They were impressed with the model which not only brings happiness to 3.1 million milk producers of Gujarat but also brings cheers to milk producers in the rest of India as "Amul" model has been successfully replicated in other parts of the country through the Operation Flood programme. The dignitaries were briefed on the history of Amul and the vital role played by Dr. V. Kurien, the father of the White Revolution in building of this movement. During his visit to Amul Dairy, H.E. Rev. (Mr.) Harris Sithembile Majeke quoted "This is quite an experience and this must be replicated in South Africa. This is the answer to the poverty problems faced by our communities. The meeting is conducted in LSIP (Large Scale Interactive Process) manner. During this meeting the group reviewed status of various Hoshins taken in the last Hoshin Kanri meeting held in February, 2011 and made plans for the remaining period September, 2011 to March, 2012 along with action plans. |

Jun 21, 2011 | Taste of India crosses 2 billion dollar milestoneTaste of India crosses 2 billion dollar milestoneGCMMF which markets the popular Amul brand of milk and dairy products crosses yet another landmark in its long and illustrious history. The results of the apex body of the dairy cooperatives in Gujarat, were declared on 21st June 2011, in the 37th Annual General Meeting of GCMMF. The organization which symbolizes ‘taste of India’ achieved a historical milestone by crossing the 2 billion dollar mark. During the financial year 2010-11, GCMMF registered impressive topline growth of 22.1%, achieving turnover of Rs. 9774 crores. While commenting on the results, Shri Parthibhai G. Bhatol, Chairman, GCMMF informed that this performance is even more remarkable, when viewed from the perspective that the organization was able to achieve 1 billion dollar turnover in the 33rd year of its formation while it took only just four more years to add another 1 billion dollar to its turnover. Turnover of GCMMF registered CAGR of 23% during the last 4 years. During the year 2010-11, GCMMF paid Rs. 8345 crores to its 30 lakhs farmer members. Payout to farmers also registered 23% CAGR in last 4 years. This consistently high growth is also reflected in the performance of its various mega-brands as the organization further enhanced its market-share in different product categories. Sales of Amul Butter has also shown an impressive growth of 26% in 2010-11. Sales of Amul Milk in pouches have grown by 34%. Sales of Amul Processed Cheese have shown consistent and very impressive growth of 29%. Amul beverage range including Flavoured milk, Buttermilk and Lassi has shown an impressive growth of 28% over the last year. Sales of Amul Masti Dahi also grew by 39%. With enhanced focus on fresh and fermented products, GCMMF launched Amul Probiotic Lasee in ready to drink cups, Amul Probiotic Buttermilk in PET bottles and flavoured yoghurt under the brand name Amul Flaavyo. In the Infant Milk Food category, their brand Amulspray registered growth of 20% and achieved the unique distinction of becoming a Rs. 1000 crore mega-brand. GCMMF recently initiated its largest distribution expansion exercise to extend its reach to smaller towns and semi-urban areas. Through implementation of its new ‘hub & spoke’ model of distribution, GCMMF plans to appoint 150 new Super-distributors and extend its reach to 3000 additional smaller towns & semi-urban areas in 2011-12. Retailing continues to be an important strategic initiative for GCMMF. During the year 2010-11, 1000 new Amul Parlours have been added, taking the total strength to 6000, thus reinforcing the wide popularity of the concept. Apart from 160 parlours at railway stations and 177 parlours operating at various centers of excellence, Amul also has 375 air-conditioned Ice-cream scooping parlours. In order to align supply chain strategy with corporate objectives across key lines of business in a timely & cost-effective manner and to achieve superior supply chain performance, GCMMF successfully implemented SAP ERP application in 2010-11. Shri Bhatol further informed that GCMMF plans to achieve turnover of Rs. 12000 crores in the year 2011-12. As the undisputed leader of organized Indian dairy sector, GCMMF will continue to focus on expanding category penetration and enlarging consumer base of the product categories that it operates in. |
